I n a small town in the state of Michoacan, the
artisans have become the finest in the technique of hammering metals such as
copper or silver. Ignacio creates his pieces with great ability, mastery and
artistic sensibility. He elaborates luxurious pieces of grand scale and, in
addition to copper, he works in silver, an area in which he has received a
great number of
acknowledgments
and awards.
A source of great pride to Ignacio is that most of his objects are
fabricated from one piece of metal, without the need for soldering or for
elements being later affixed. When he finished shaping the piece, he
proceeds with the decoration. To give the piece added shine, it is treated
with sulfuric acid, soap water and steel wool, resulting in a finish worthy
of admiration.
